Samples labeled “initial visit” were obtained during the patients' initial visit(s) to the clinician. Samples labeled “ASC testing” were obtained subsequent to the initial samples, and the day post-symptom onset on which they were obtained is indicated. These samples were used for detecting mumps ASC ELISPOTs shown in Fig. 3. The letter “G” indicates the PCR product from donor 7 was sequenced and found to be mumps genotype G.
