  • a Two New Zealand rabbits were exposed to a 20× LD50 of Ames spores and monitored until death at ≈48 h. Serum samples taken at the time of death revealed detectable PA levels between 80 and 100 μg/ml and LF levels between 11 and 15 μg/ml. Numbers of CFU were measured per 100 mg of tissue or per ml of blood. Both animals possessed bacteria in all measured organs as well as in systemic circulation.
